Gurnee Youth Baseball

Welcome back to another year of baseball at GYB. We are happy that you have chosen to participate in our baseball organization and are looking forward to the 2024 season.

 

 

Weather permitting, practices begin in April, games start in May, and the season concludes prior to July 4th. Below is a high-level list of important dates for the spring-summer leagues. This is meant as a helpful guideline to parents and is subject to change.

 

• November - registration opens for following year's league. SIGN UP EARLY! Prices increase $40 after January 10, 2024.
• SAVE THE DATE: Players are required to attend evaluations for Mustang, Bronco and Pony levels. There are two evaluation options scheduled for January 14 and January 21, 2024 at Warren High School ALMOND campus. Times TBD.
•  Players only need to attend ONE of the two evaluation sessions. Player evaluations are not held for Shetland or Pinto levels.
• Mid-February - teams drafted by coaches
• March - players contacted by their head coach
• Late March or Early April - first practice (obviously depending on the weather)
• Early May - Opening Day
• Mid to Late June - regular season concludes; playoffs begin (not applicable for Shetland)
• Prior to July 4th - playoffs conclude. PONY league playoffs may extend a week beyond July 4.

• In the month of April (depending on the weather), each team will usually have one weeknight practice (60-90 minutes) and one weekend practice (60-90 minutes).

• In the months of May and June, each team will usually have one or two games during the week and one game on Saturday.  In case of rainouts, games are usually made up on Sunday.

• Mustang, Bronco and Pony leagues may play with other neighboring communities and may also require some games to be played at other communities' fields.

Enrollment - based on age as of August 31, 2024

• Shetland - 6 & 7
• Pinto - 8
• Mustang - 9 & 10
• Bronco - 11 & 12
• Pony - 13 & 14

GYB reserves the right to cancel leagues at age levels where minimum participation requirements have not been met. If cancellation occurs, full refunds will be provided.
